This series of Chemistry demonstration videos won a 2022 Silver Telly Award for Education Programming and features McGlothlin Award-winning teacher Fred Mitchell from Carrol County High School in SW Virginia.
Hands on Health
A series of 7 videos covering CPR, Using AEDs, Treating Bleeding, Splints and Slings, Shock, Adult and Infant Choking, and Chain of Survival. These videos were produced for use in Virtual Virginia Health course.
Hands on Physics
This series, produced in collaboration with the Physics Demonstration Classroom at Virginia Tech, is designed to provide visual representations of key concepts in Physics that may be difficult to reproduce in a virtual or face to face classroom. All 16 videos are correlated to the Virginia Standards of Learning. Awarded a Telly Award in 2023 for outstanding educational media production.
Virginia Roots: A Journey into Appalachian Music
Virginia Roots is a co-production of Blue Ridge PBS, PBS Appalachia/Virginia, and the Virginia Department of Education. The goal of the series is to help music educators find a place for traditional Appalachian music in the school curriculum, and to help everyone understand the place of mountain music in the broader culture.
What Parents Need to Know: Vaping/Gambling
This playlist contains resources for parents who are interested in protecting the health of their children, and for school divisions tasked with sharing parent education resources within their region. All resources were produced in partnership with the Virginia Department of Education and Health Education experts.
