Aerospace

In this installment of Working Hands, we meet up with instructor Chris Balthis at Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his aerospace class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Balthis has to say about the goals he has for his students and how he is preparing them for a career in aerospace.

Autobody

We meet up with instructor Nathaniel Kingery at Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his autobody class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Kingery has to say about the different skill sets he is teaching his students, the projects they are currently working on and how he is getting his students ASE certified by the end of the school year to help his students enter into the auto body job market.

Building Trades

We meet up with instructor Phil Simmons at Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his building trades class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Simmons has to say about the different projects his students are working on, along with the different skill sets he is currently teaching his students to prepare them for a career in the building trades.

Carpentry

We meet up with instructor Jesse Truax at Roanoke Technical Education Center (ROTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his carpentry class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Truax and his students have to say about the learning process, the importance of developing good teamwork skills, and what a day in the workshop looks like for these future carpenters.

Culinary

We meet up with instructor Joseph Henry at Roanoke Technical Education Center (ROTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his culinary class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Henry and his students have to say about the different skills they learn, the different dishes they cook, and food handling. 

Engineering

We meet up with instructor Greg Hirschmann at Roanoke Technical Education Center (ROTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his pre-engineering classes. Tune in to hear what Mr. Hirschmann has to say about the different projects his students are currently learning, and how he is setting up his students for success if they want to further their knowledge in the world of engineering.

Mechatronics

We meet up with instructor Chris Balthis at Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his mechatronics class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Balthis has to say about the different topics they go over, the skill sets his students learn, and the goals he has for his students by the end of the school year.

Veterinary

We meet up with instructor Andy Bell at Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his veterinary classes. Tune in to hear what Mr. Bell and his students have to say about the current courses they are currently working on, along with how Mr. Bell is teaching them a certain skill set so when his students graduate, they are able to have the basic skills to get an entry job of vet assisting. 

Welding - BTEC

We meet up with instructor Troy Linkenhoker at Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) to take a closer look at what goes on in his welding class. Tune in to hear what Mr. Linkenhoker has to say about the different projects his students are currently learing, along with the different skill sets he is teaching his students so they can enter into the career field of welding.

Tune in to hear what Mr. Fultz and his students have to say about the importance of learning to get the job done right every time, the skills you develop, and how these classes are preparing these future welders to enter the job market.
