Claudia Whitworth

In this installment of Spotlighting Virginians we sat down with Claudia Alexander Whitworth, the editor and publisher of the Roanoke Tribune, to learn about the history of one of the oldest Black newspapers still in print today. Alexander, Claudia started working for the paper after graduating from Christiansburg Institute and takes pride in publishing news that “leaves a good taste in your mouth after reading.” Take a look at what Mrs. Whitworth had to say about the paper’s history and the reward of making the Tribune a family affair.
