A New Season of Drama on Blue Ridge PBS!
- THE DURRELLS IN CORFU- MASTERPIECE – Premiering Sunday, October 16
Keeley Hawes stars as a widow who transplants her four unruly children from Britain to sun-drenched Corfu in 1935. Based on Gerald Durrell’s autobiographical trilogy, the series was lauded as “completely satisfying” when it aired in the UK.
- VICTORIA- MASTERPIECE – Coming in January 2017
The eight-hour drama follows Victoria (Jenna Coleman) from the time she becomes Queen in 1837 at the age of 18 through her relationship with Lord Melbourne (Rufus Sewell), her first prime minister and intimate friend, and her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert (Tom Hughes). Famous for her candor and spirit, she was the first woman who seemed to have it all: a passionate marriage, nine children and the job of being queen of the world’s most important nation. Her often tumultuous reign lasted for 63 years.
- MERCY STREET – Season 2, Coming in January 2017
The second season of this Civil War-era drama continues to explore the growing chaos within Alexandria, the complicated interpersonal dynamics of Dr. Foster, Nurse Mary and the Mansion House staff, the increasingly precarious position of the Green family and the changing predicament of the burgeoning black population. Allegiances blur and loyalties shift as the war pushes the drama beyond the hospital. The new episodes are set against the intensifying war, starting with the Seven Days’ Battle and culminating with Antietam.
