Virginia in the Civil War: A Sesquicentennial Remembrance" won two bronze Telly awards, which honor outstanding local and regional video productions from around the world. The three-hour documentary, developed in partnership with the Virginia Tech Center for Civil War Studies, won in the education/academic use and history/biography categories. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, the 2010 Telly Awards were one of the most successful and competitive in the long history of the awards.

In addition, "Virginia in the Civil War" won a 2010 NETA award and was also nominated for a 2010 regional Emmy award.
